Saffron stewed apples
Stewed apples are a wonderful ayurvedic breakfast, known to be great for your digestive health. One to two hours after I eat stewed apples, I am literally so hungry, which is wonderful because that means my digestive fire is doing it’s job and working. I love adding spices to it, such as pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon. But, sometimes, I like to change it up. I like to add saffron for a little something something extra and the flavor of saffron in these apples is absolutely amazzzzingggg!! You can also add cinnamon sticks or cardamom seeds or powder as well to add a nice flavor.
It literally feels like you are having apple pie in the morning, but without the unnecessary sugar and carbs. I don’t add sugar to this recipe as the raisins add a natural sweetness, but you certainly can. Believe me, your kitchen will smell divine while you are making these apples. This is a wonderful aroma to start your day with.
