Guacamole

Guac and salsa are two soulmates, perfectly complementing each other. You can’t have one without the other. I absolutely love making homemade guacamole and salsa. I have been making these two essential Mexican side dishes/appetizers for years. The taste of fresh guac and salsa exceeds any store bought version that I’ve ever had.

Mexican meal ready to assemble

The taste of homemade tex-mex food reminds me of my trip to Mexico in 2014. I still remember one of the meals that we had at the resort in Mexico. We had our own personal chef who made ANYTHING and everything Mexican and jain friendly for us and it was such a delight.

The chef also came to meet and greet us, as if we are some elite guests and we felt so loved. (I think he was smitten when he saw 5 single Indian/American women raving about his food haha!) He was the sweetest man, who just wanted to please his customers.

I feel like whenever food is created with a loving mood, those vibrations are infused in the cooking and the food. We were able to feel that love by the extraordinary taste and flavor. It was an amazing meal and the two soulmates (guac and salsa) were delicious. I cannot wait to travel again!

Add some toppings to ur guac – crushed red pepper flakes are my favorite!

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1/2 tsp jalapeno sauce I like Tabasco and the Trader Joe's brand
  • 3/4 tsp hing (asafoetida) This is the onion/garlic spice replacement (if you prefer onion or garlic instead, you can certainly add that). If you are using PURE hing which has a stronger flavor, add only 1/4 tsp of hing.
  • 1/2 tsp chili lime seasoning I use the Trader Joe's brand of chili lime seasoning. If you don't have this, replace with taco seasoning or chipotle chili seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice

Instructions

  • Smash the avocado with a spoon. Leave the pit to keep the guacamole green and fresh.
  • Add in all the ingredients and mix thoroughly.
  • Say a pray of gratitude and enjoy!
